A new development of stunning sea-front apartments

About Seaton Beach

Seaton Beach is a stunning new development of luxury beach front apartments located in Seaton, Devon.

Seaton is a seaside town on the South West coast of England which is part of the unique Jurassic Coastline.  This stretch of the Dorset and East Devon coastline was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.  The local region has areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the picturesque Axemouth Harbour, the Axe Estuary and the Wetlands Wildlife Centre.

This stunning development is to be found just west of the Harbour and within a short walking distance of the town centre.

About Seaton Beach Developments Limited

The company’s vision for Seaton Beach is to build a beautiful building that will stand the test of time and which will become a landmark for Seaton. Since May 2015 a great deal of time and thought has gone into the design, which we believe reflects the beauty of Seaton’s coastline and the surrounding countryside, whilst at the same time, provides spacious and elegant accommodation throughout the seven 2-bedroom apartments and the 3-bedroom penthouse.

The striking, contemporary, yet sympathetic design gives the apartments the special qualities of space and light in the interior which are more than matched outside by the spectacular balcony sea views along the coastline.  We have incorporated elements of the beautiful vista into the design by adding curves into the sea front balconies in order to mirror the shape of the bay. The use of colour on the side windows and on the balconies will highlight the beautiful red cliffs and at ground level we plan to utilise pebbles on the exterior, reminiscent of the beach, thus creating texture and a natural look.

Please continue to look at our website over the coming weeks. We will be adding more information pertaining to the design features, along with our plans for effective storage solutions and beautifully fitted bathrooms and kitchens. Other features regarding the bespoke fit out of the apartments, such as superior fitted wardrobes, glass doors and lighting design, in addition to many more plans are in the pipeline and we hope to engage our future purchasers in this process to enable them to personalise their apartment to suit their own needs and desires.

About our Journey

We saw the site potential in May 2015 and thanks to excellent legal work by Peter McHugh we secured the site in less than a month.

We then interviewed various RIBA architectural practices, knowing a quality design would be required to meet the opportunity this project presented. We settled with Clifton Emery Design and so the project commenced. The Architects team headed by Mark Timms have been both creative and resilient in delivering a design to meet the needs of all interested parties but fundamentally our purchasers, designing dreams by the sea to live in.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Seaton Town Council (STC) were consulted at early stages to provide design input and feedback. Our proposal, originally for 6 floors going back deep into the site, was presented to the Design Review Panel in Taunton in November 2015 at the recommendation of EDDC and this exciting scheme got their approval.

Neither EDDC or STC supported 6 stories and wanted the depth reduced. Following consultations with the neighbouring properties, we withdrew the scheme, revised the height and depth and re submitted. The STC approved this but at the EDDC planning committee in August 2016, we were refused by 1 vote. Again we sought guidance from EDDC planning officers, revised the scheme further to the plans as shown on this website and reapplied for planning permission on 18th November 2016.

Planning permission was finally granted on 7th February 2017.

Now the second and most exciting stage of our journey begins, the construction of this magnificent building.

We are working on the Building regulations compliance and shaping the structure to ensure a robust building of great beauty as we speak, again watch this space for further developments.
