Seaton is a seaside town on the South West coast of England which is part of the unique Jurassic Coastline. This stretch of the Dorset and East Devon coastline was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. The local region has areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the picturesque Axmouth Harbour, the Axe Estuary and the Wetlands Wildlife Centre.

About Seaton Beach Developments Limited
The company’s vision for Seaton Beach is to build a beautiful building that will stand the test of time and which will become a landmark for Seaton. Since May 2015 a great deal of time and thought has gone into the design, which we believe reflects the beauty of Seaton’s coastline and the surrounding countryside. The design provides spacious and elegant accommodation throughout the seven 2-bedroom apartments and the 3-bedroom penthouse.
The striking, contemporary, yet sympathetic design gives the apartments the special qualities of space and light in the interior which are more than matched outside by the spectacular balcony sea views along the coastline. We have incorporated elements of the beautiful vista into the design by adding curves into the sea front balconies in order to mirror the shape of the bay. The use of colour will highlight the beautiful red cliffs of Lyme Bay and at ground level we plan to utilise pebbles on the front wall, reminiscent of the beach, thus creating texture and a natural look. As sustainable developers, we have salvaged these from the original boundary wall to be in keeping with the neighbouring properties.

About The Team
Seaton Beach is a private Limited Company formed specifically to deliver this high quality project with a credit line to facilitate the development from secure private funding.
The four directors are Audrey and Mike Webb from Worcestershire and Mike and Anne Dowling (formerly from Axminster). All four have a passion to help Seaton thrive. Mike W's great grandmother lived in Harepath Road in Seaton back in the 1940s.
Audrey and Mike W have diverse business experience, latterly property related, with a portfolio both in the UK and abroad. As members of the National Landlords Association and accredited by local authorities, they have an eye to compliance and detail. Audrey and Mike enjoy swimming and keeping fit and combine this with long dog walks in Worcestershire and in the beautiful Devon Hills, great fun for Pepper and Mr Bob, their rescue dog when they are allowed to accompany them on their visits to Devon.
Mike D has developed property both in the UK and abroad and has a keen eye for figures. Anne D has interior design ﬂair and a passion to deliver a beautiful building both inside and out. Both have come out of early retirement to focus on this project in between their amateur dramatics' rehearsals.
We are all keen environmentalists with a desire to deliver a sustainable project that offers high comfort levels and low running costs. To that end our Managing Director, Mike Webb, is a certified passivhaus consultant and a member of the Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB). www.aecb.net
About our Journey
We saw the site potential in May 2015 and thanks to excellent legal work by Peter McHugh we secured the site in less than a month.
We then interviewed various RIBA architectural practices, knowing that a quality design would be required to meet the opportunity this project presented. We settled with Clifton Emery Design and so the project commenced. The Architect's team headed by Mark Timms, has been both creative and resilient in delivering a "dreams by the sea" design to meet the needs of all interested parties, with the emphasis on the requirements of our purchasers.
East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Seaton Town Council (STC) were consulted at early stages to provide design input and feedback. Our proposal, originally for 6 ﬂoors going back deep into the site, was presented to the Design Review Panel in Taunton in November 2015 at the recommendation of EDDC and this exciting scheme was approved.
Neither EDDC or STC supported 6 stories and wanted the depth reduced. Following consultations with the neighbouring properties, we re submitted the scheme, having revised the height and depth. The STC approved this but at the EDDC planning committee in August 2016, we were refused by 1 vote. Again we sought guidance from EDDC planning officers, revised the scheme further to the plans as shown on this website and reapplied for planning permission on 18th November 2016.
Planning permission was finally granted on 7th February 2017.
Now the second and most exciting stage of our journey begins, the construction of this Iconic building.
Seaton Beach will be Passivhaus certified as we believe a sustainable approach to new builds shows responsibility to our environment and furthermore provides our home owners with a comfortable low energy home to live in. To achieve this, we changed architect to Gale and Snowden Architects Ltd, headed by the excellent Tomas Gartner who has specialised in Passivhaus construction for over ten years since moving to the Exeter Office from his homeland Germany. Demolition on the site concluded in April 2017 and construction began on 19thMarch 2018. This complex build process will take over 12 months, therefore an occupation date of May 2019 is anticipated. The :Building Regulations" compliance has now been completed. The tender process has concluded with thanks to Phil Lewis and Shaun Yeoman at Randall Simmonds quantity surveyors. We are pleased to confirm that Classic Builders (South West) Ltd have been appointed as our main contractors and they are currently constructing a robust building of great beauty.
